Mackay's Spa Lodge Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night checking out 23rd July 2024 with two of my children, who are young adolescents. I don't wish to be unkind but this hotel was a last-minute budget option booking. I did not have high expectations and from that perspective it is okay. White gloss paint can only cover up so much, and actual renovation is necessary. I must point out I noticed the start of black mould on the shower room ceiling in Room 1. Again, just it was one night! Positives: three clean single beds, a lockable door, a cleaned shower room, hot water in the tap, WiFi, pool and table tennis in the day room. The hotelier was pleasant and my children slept well enough in there hotel beds.

BEWARE this place is a dangerous health hazard, the facilities advertised on hotel booking websites do not exist, no food no bar an no spa or pool, THE PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL IT SMELLS, IT HAS BLACK MOULD IN SOME OF THE ROOMS , THE FLOORBOARDS HAVE COLLAPSED IN AT LEAST 2 OF THE ROOMS (3 &5)THE STAIR CARPET IS INSECURE UP TO 3RD FLOOR IT HAS LARGE SPLITS KEPT TOGETHER WITH GAFFA TAPE. THEY DO NOT DISPLAY PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE OR ANY OF THE REQUIRED LICENSES, AND REFUSED TO SHOW THEM WHEN ASKED. THE WHOLE PLACE IS BEST DESCRIBED AS AN 18 CENTURY COMMON LODGING HOUSE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It is the worst hotel ive ever been to in my 71 years. I visited with 7 others all over 65 and it was so bad we booked into another hotel.
